A little over a month ago, I wrote about how Midnight Moon Tattoo’s owner, Mathew Clarke, had been tattooing a medical alert plaque on someone who had Type 1 Diabetes. During that tattoo, Mat had an epiphany that he wanted to help as many people with the disease as he could—this was the moment the Type 1 Diabetes tattooing event was born!

On Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, Midnight Moon Tattoo held an event offering free-for-donation medical alert tattoos for those who had Type 1 Diabetes. We are still so immensely blown away by the incredible turn-out and feel exceedingly blessed by how many people donated their money, time, efforts, and goods for this event.

Specifically, we would like to thank Sal from Sal’s Seafood at Moulton Farms in Meredith, NH, Tricia Lutkus and her baked good menagerie, April Crowley for setting up her chair massage station, Leslie from Tavern 27 Tapas Bar in Laconia, NH, and our very own Timm Myers for donating a pair of his custom designed shoes!

Everyone came into the studio donating what they could, and more, and it was a very powerful day. So many people were given incredible tattoos signifying that they were Type 1 Diabetics and we were able to raise an even $1,000 for ADA Camp Carefree!

One amazing thing that I noticed during the day, was that those who came in with Type 1 Diabetes seemed to all know each other! It did not matter what walk of life everyone might have been from, most of them had been to Camp Carefree (and possibly even came back as counselors!) and almost all of them were friends! It was such a moving event to be able to witness and we felt a part of that community (even if it was just for the day)!

Midnight Moon would like to thank all of the people who came into the studio and donated, as well as ADA Camp Carefree for allowing us to help in the way that we can.

Lastly, we want to humbly say thank you to the community for allowing us to be a part of your lives. It was such a blessing and we hope to be able to remain in contact with you all!
